WORLD-FAMOUS dancer Wayne Sleep is to become the patron of Colne Valley dance school.

He will support the Bernadette Heys School of Theatre Dance in Marsden and offer advice to its pupils.

Principal Bernadette Heys said: “I was at a workshop with him a few weeks ago and asked him to be our patron.

“He said he was really honoured,” she added.

Recently junior dance pupils performed at Colne Valley High School with a show filled with colourful performances.

In May the infant pupils performed their annual show.

The dance school, which raised £12,000 for charity last year, is now appealing for sponsorship to help improve its rehearsal space.

Ms Heys added: “We need to replace the old windows in the hall at Marsden Liberal Club.

“But we need the money to do so.

“Even though we raise so much for charity I don’t want them to lose out on our donations.

“We would be grateful to anyone who can help sponsor us.”
