THREE members of the Waring Green Players did an Irish jig for a good cause on St Patrick's Day.

Janet Austin, Ashley Nelson, and Rachel Owens spent 30 minutes dancing in the Asda store on Bradford Road.

And it was all for a good cause.

Waring Green Community Centre in Brighouse is a regular venue for the performers' rehearsals, but there are problems with the roof, and cash is needed for repairs.

Ashley Nelson, one of the dancers, said: "We put on a dancing display to get us in the mood for our upcoming show, Stepping Out.

"We also thought it would be nice to use the theme as a chance to raise some funds."

The trio raised money for the roof from charitable shoppers.

"It went really well, though we are not sure about how much we raised, but every penny counts," added Ashley.
