SIXTY young dancers took to the stage to raise money for children's charities.

The dancers, all from Huddersfield, attend the Ann and Carole School of Dance, based at Crosland Hill Methodist Church.

The school is run by Ann Pickering, of Roberttown, and Carole West, of Marsh.

The performers, aged between three and 19, are holding four concerts at Newsome High School.

Two of these took place at the weekend.

The remaining two concerts will take place at 7pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday .

The events usually raise around £1,000.

Some of this goes towards sponsoring a child through aid charity World Vision.

The rest is given to charities which support children. They include the Laura Crane Trust, which funds research into cancers affecting people aged 13 to 25, National Children's Homes and the Starlight Foundation, which helps severely ill children.

Tickets for the weekend concerts will be available on the door.
