A “dangerous” rapist has been locked up for another sex crime.

Calvin Peter Crosse has been given an extended prison sentence for raping a 17-year-old girl after he was described as dangerous.

Crosse, of Sheepridge , had a previous conviction for rape and jailing him for 11 years with an extended five years on licence, Recorder Caroline Wigin said she was satisfied he presented a high risk of harm.

She said a pre-sentence report described him as acting in “both a manipulative and predatory fashion.”

Crosse, 28 of Wiggan Lane, Sheepridge, appeared for sentence at Leeds Crown Court after a jury previously convicted him by an 11-1 majority of raping the teenage girl and of a sexual assault on her, which he had denied.

Recorder Wigin said he had befriended the 17-year-old student and would visit her house.

She said having heard the evidenced at the trial: “I am satisfied you attended on that day knowing she would be alone and intending when you entered the house to have sexual intercourse with her.”

“You made approaches to her which she absolutely rejected in the kitchen.”

“You then forced her upstairs to her own bedroom.”

Recorder Wigin said he sexually assaulted the teenager and then raped her. “This was a sustained incident.”

Since the attack she had suffered flashbacks, did not like to go out alone or feel safe in her own home. “This young lady has suffered psychological harm and I am satisfied there was a significant degree of planning in your assault that day.”

The court heard in 2008, Crosse was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court to 54 months in custody for raping another woman after he had been invited back to her home.

He was also on licence at the time of the current rape offence having been released only weeks earlier in April from sentences totalling two and a half years for threatening to kill a private hire car driver and having a knife imposed in 2013 .

Sarah Barlow, representing Crosse, said the current rape offence although serious did not involve excess violence beyond that needed to commit the offence. She said the report suggested work could be done with him in custody relating to women he perceived as attracted to him.

After the case, Det Insp Michael Brown of Kirklees District Adult Safeguarding Team, said: “We welcome today’s significant sentence and hope that it helps to bring some closure to the victim, who has shown great strength and courage, from reporting the offence to giving evidence in court.

“I would seek to remind anyone who has been the victim of a sexual assault that our specially-trained officers treat all reports seriously and deal with them with the utmost sensitivity in order to protect victims and take positive action against offenders.
