Police are hunting for a violent rapist who absconded over a week ago.

And the hunt for Malcolm Millman has switched to West Yorkshire and Manchester region after he was allowed out from a secure facility for a day trip to a monastery.

Millman was last seen at Manchester Airport railway station on Monday, October 26, at 12.30pm.

The previous day, the wanted man was also captured on CCTV at Leeds railway station at 8.50am.

Millman was convicted of rape in 1996 and Thames Valley Police who are leading the hunt for him say he poses a risk specifically to woman and girls.

He absconded during a day visit to a monastery in Hemel Hempstead, on the afternoon of Saturday, October 24 and failed to return to Chadwick Lodge in Milton Keynes, whose care he was under.

Police say he has withdrawn a large cash sum from cashpoints and has been using public transport. He may also be booking into hotels or hostels.

They are particularly anxious for pharmacists to be on the alert for him as he has medical conditions including a heart condition and diabetes so may be seeking to obtain medication.

Det Supt Chris Ward from Major Crime, said: “Thames Valley Police needs the public’s help to find Malcolm Millman.

“We are also working closely with other police forces and organisations to locate him as soon as possible.

“Millman was convicted of rape in 1996 and we believe he poses a potential risk, specifically to woman and girls.

“I want to urge everybody to remain vigilant. If you see this man, please do not approach him but contact the police immediately

“If any member of the public sees Millman, do not approach him, but call Thames Valley Police on 101 or 999.

A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police said today (Tues): “We have received a number of calls from members of the public in response to the wanted appeal and we are following up all reports.

“To date there have been no confirmed sightings of Mr Millman since Manchester Airport on Monday, 26 October, and we are continuing to appeal for information.”
