A MAN assaulted his teenage girlfriend after she confronted him when she found a picture of a naked woman on his phone.
The 17-year-old briefly lost consciousness after Daniel Britton flew into a rage and headbutted her.
Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, said that when the incident happened on August 26 the couple were in a relationship.
Britton, 23, was carrying out repairs to his father’s roof and the teenager was sitting in his car waiting for him.
Ms Schofield said: “She was looking at his phone and came across a picture of a naked woman.
“Then she got out and threw Mr Britton’s phone down on the grass.”
The mobile phone broke and unhappy at this Britton got down to confront her.
Ms Schofield said: “He stood on her foot and headbutted her. She lost consciousness for a short period of time and that was seen by a passing motorist.”
Magistrates heard that the motorist called police and Britton was arrested.
The girl suffered from lumps and swelling over her eye.
Bob Carr, mitigating, said that his client accepted that he had overreacted but his ex had become violent as well.
He added: “She got his phone and threw it, smashing it to the ground.
“Then she picked up a brick and was about to throw it at his car when he grabbed her arm to prevent her from throwing the brick.
“She endeavoured to headbutt him and he retaliated.”
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until October 3 so that a report can be prepared on Britton.
