DANNY Brough was best man twice in the space of six hours.

The Huddersfield Giants star was man of the match in the side’s stunning Super League play-off win at mighty Warrington on Saturday evening.

But Brough was there only after a mad dash from Thornhill Parish Church – where he was best man for his best friend Jamie Dunford’s wedding.

Jamie married Charlotte Clark in a 1pm ceremony and there was just time for the service and the traditional wedding photos before Danny had to rush off to meet up with his Giants team-mates.

He caught the coach in Huddersfield and then had an inspired game at the Halliwell Jones Stadium where the GIants won 34-22 to seal a spot in Friday’s semi-final against St Helens.

Brough was named man of the match, but didn’t have time to celebrate. His wife Jenna was at the game and drove him away to re-join the wedding celebrations with Jamie and Charlotte.

“It has to be one of my best days ever”, said Brough, 26

“Jamie has been my friend for years and I had to be at his wedding.

“We had hoped the play-off game had taken place on the Friday but it was not to be. He had picked two best men so I got to do the church service and the photos before I had to leave.

“I really enjoyed the game and I think that first half had to be our best 40 minutes of the season. Now we need to produce two halves like that to win at St Helens.

“I think everyone played really well. I’m delighted to be named man of the match but it’s the big guys who open up the spaces for my kicking game.

“I’m pleased with my kicking game and with the move I made to set up Danny Kirmond’s try, although I was screaming at him to pass it on because I thought he was going to get caught.

“We have to be quietly confident about Friday and St Helens, but not over-confident.

“I have played in the Challenge Cup Final but never made the play-off final and I would love to go to Old Trafford.”
