POLITICS has long been a popular topic of pub chatter.

It may not rank as high as soccer, but many an argument has taken place over a pint or three.

Now two Huddersfield pubs have upped the ante – selling a beer featuring Prime Minister David Cameron.

Pub operator JD Wetherspoon is serving Veto Ale in all of its pubs.

The beer has been brewed in support of Cameron’s stance on the euro.

Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said: “Veto Ale is a traditional English bitter and a perfect example of a great beer style that you can drink and feel proud to be British.

“I believe that David Cameron has taken the right decision on the euro and that customers in our pubs will salute this with a pint of this excellent beer.”

Veto Ale has been brewed for Wetherspoon by Lincolnshire brewer, Batemans Brewery.

The beer is 4.3% ABV and is brewed using solely British ingredients, including Lincolnshire and Yorkshire malts and Bramling Cross and Challenger hops.

In Huddersfield it is on sale at The Cherry Tree in John William Street and The Lord Wilson in King Street.
