AN activity day will be held in Huddersfield tomorrow to raise funds for people living in the hurricane-hit Caribbean.

The event, at the Hudawi Centre, Great Northern Street, is being run by the Northern Region Study Guide Group.

All proceeds will go to the Caribbean Rebuilding Fund to help people whose homes and lives were devastated in September by Hurricanes Ivan and Jeanne. Worst hit were the islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Hispaniola.

The event tomorrow will start with a 32-mile running challenge.

Six people will run from Huddersfield to Leeds, Bradford and back to Huddersfield, setting off at 8.30am. Anyone else can enter if they pay the £10 fee and are aged 17 or over.

Activities at the Hudawi Centre, including a fashion show and stalls, will start from around 2pm.

The Hudawi Centre is also acting as a drop-off point for donations of tinned food, building materials, tents, medical kits, powdered milk and other items to be sent to the hurricane victims.
