A SPECIAL day for book lovers will be held in Huddersfield.

Authors will speak at the event at the Public Library on Sunday, March 18.

And across the road at the Town Hall the work of small and independent publishers will be featured.

Activities at the library will include reading groups, discussion panels, creative writing and performance poetry.

Visiting writers will include MY Alam, author of two novels and several short stories.

He has also edited a collection of crime fiction and the book Made in Bradford, based on conversations he had with British Pakistani men as part of a social policy research project.

His novel, Kilo, follows a young man's formative years in Bradford.

The small Press fair at the Town Hall will give readers a chance to meet small publishers and editors and browse and buy their books.

Tickets for the library event are £5, which includes lunch and a free reading group book. Tickets can be obtained by emailing Sarah Jackson at small_press_fair@ yahoo.co.uk, by phoning Mai Lin Li on 01484 226364 or 07814749709 or by emailing mailin.li@ kirklees. gov.uk
