ABOUT 50 women enjoyed the annual Pamper Day run by the award-winning support group Daylight.

The event, held at the George Hotel, Huddersfield, was attended by women who have had, or are undergoing, treatment for gynaecological cancers, and their guests.

They enjoyed demonstrations of make-up, beauty and nail techniques by local suppliers who gave their time for free. They were also offered pamper treatments and the chance to make their own jewellery.

There were a number of stalls selling handbags, jewellery Šand greetings cards and a raffle with prizes donated by Huddersfield and Halifax companies.

Organiser Pat Marsden, gynaecologist specialist nurse, said: “This was our biggest attendance yet and our guests all had a lovely time.

“Women enjoy a special pamper and this event brings them together to enjoy themselves and to help each other through difficult times. We cannot thank all our supporters and helpers enough.”

Daylight is the support group for women affected by gynaecological cancer. It was set up by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and meetings are held in Huddersfield and Halifax on the second Thursday of every month.

The group will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. It is a initiative which has been replicated across YorkshireŠ due to its success.

The George Hotel has supported the group since it started. It regularly gives a free room for the monthly meeting and use of the ballroom for the pamper event.
