TWO HUDDERSFIELD area children are to be stars of a new BBC children's show.

William Robertshaw and pal Matthew Llanelly, both five, are to appear on Razzledazzle, to be shown on BBC2 and cable channel CBeebies.

The friends, from New Mill, were approached when the television crew visited Kirkroyds Infant School last summer.

The cameras filmed Matthew playing in his sand pit with mum Vikki and William cleaning out his goldfish with dad Sean.

The programme focuses on sound, rhyme and story-telling.

William's mum, Sally, said the boys were excited about seeing themselves on the television.

"They can't wait. The show sent a certificate to commemorate them being on the television and everyone at school seems very interested in it," she added.

"The programme is a mixture of education and fun. There are some studio-based pieces and features with children doing activities, which is what Matthew and William did.

"We were asked to choose an activity that the boys would do with one of their parents. The focus was on sound and the description of sound."

William will appear on BBC2 at 9.20am on Friday and Matthew will be on at the same time on March 11.

Both shows will be repeated three times on CBeebies on the day they are broadcast.
