SPECTACULAR fireworks lit up the sky at Bonfire Night displays all over Huddersfield.

The two biggest bonfire events took place in Holmfirth and at Crosland Hill on Saturday night.

The Rotary Club of Holmfirth held its annual display at Sands Recreation Ground. Thousands of spectators watched dazzling displays light up the sky and children were kept entertained with a traditional funfair.

The bonfire has been held annually for 19 years and this year it raised around £2,000 for Rotary club charities. The Crosland Hill bonfire, at Blackmoorfoot Road, was organised for the eleventh year running by the Huddersfield Pendragon Round Table.

The thousands of spectators were lucky the event went ahead at all as vandals had burned down the bonfire during the early hours of Saturday morning. But Round Table members were able to rebuild the bonfire in time.

A funfair was also held at the event before an amazing array of fireworks wowed the crowds.

All funds from the bonfire will go towards a Christmas Wish appeal, through which the Round Table was to help deserving local causes.
