THE body of a baby girl found at a waste depot could have come from anywhere in West Yorkshire.
A dead newborn was discovered at the Valley Road waste plant in Bradford at around 2.30am on Thursday.
But investigations by police say 51 of 97 loads of waste delivered on Wednesday were from places other than Bradford and Leeds.
This raises the possibility the youngster may be from Kirklees, Calderdale or Wakefield.
Following a postmortem yesterday, it appears the girl was white, but a cause of death has not as yet been ascertained.
It is believed the newborn was unlikely to have been born in a hospital and may have died two to three days before her body was discovered.
Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh who is leading the enquiry, said: “Our focus continues to be to identify this baby's mother and I would urge her friends, relatives and neighbours to contact West Yorkshire Police.
“Somebody in West Yorkshire must know who the mother of this child is and I would ask them to provide the key piece information we need to find her.
“We remain greatly concerned for the mother’s condition and welfare and want to ensure she gets the medical attention she deserves.”
