A man assaulted his work colleague after downing 10 pints of lager and a couple of Jagerbombs, a court heard.

Dean Martin admitted he was drunk when he assaulted Jamie Wood at his Batley home.

Mr Wood’s wife Victoria Wood was also hurt as she tried to separate the scuffling pair during the row on November 21.

She fell to the floor after being pushed in the chest by Martin, of Priestly Square.

When police arrived they found the 28-year-old shirtless and with scratches to his face.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said: “He said he’d drunk 10 pints of lager and a couple of Jagerbombs. He accepted he was in drink.”

Magistrates handed Martin a 12-month community order.

This includes 20 days of rehabilitative activities and 120 hours of unpaid work.

Martin also has to pay £100 of compensation to Mr Wood and £60 victim surcharge.
