A MAN lay dead in his Huddersfield flat for some time before his body was found.

Friends of retired gardener Peter Grimshaw grew worried after they had not heard or seen him for several weeks.

They called police who broke into his flat at Pennine Crescent, Salendine Nook, on February 28 and found the body.

A cup of tea nearby had mould on it.

At a Huddersfield inquest into his death coroner Roger Whittaker recorded a verdict that Mr Grimshaw died from natural causes.
