THE DEATH of a man found badly hurt in the street is not being treated as suspicious.

It was initially thought that Roy Hepworth, 67, who was found near his home on Glenfield Avenue in Deighton with severe facial injuries at 11pm on Friday, October 8, might have been attacked.

He had just left the Wise Owl Inn on nearby Leeds Road after taking part in a karaoke session.

Following a post mortem at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary yesterday, detectives say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

They had appealed for anyone who saw Mr Hepworth after he had left the pub to come forward.

It is believed Mr Hepworth - a policeman in Huddersfield in the late 60s and early 70s - suffered the injuries in a fall.
