AN ELDERLY driver collapsed and died at the wheel of his car before running into a wall.

The 85-year-old man, from Crosland Moor, was in his silver Rover 214 car when he apparently collapsed as he drove down Park Road in Crosland Moor, near the entrance to Lockwood railway station.

He then collided with a wall at about 11am yesterday.

The cause of his death is unknown.

Police closed the road for a short time as they investigated the incident.

Huddersfield coroner’s office is now dealing with the matter.
