TEENAGE singing star Olivia Hutchinson has released her first album.

And she has also secured a contract to let her songs help a Huddersfield firm.

Olivia, 16, of Fixby, has teamed up with Leeds Road kitchen firm Westin to launch their new Jazz range of kitchen extraction solutions.

Westin have bought 1,000 copies of her debut album Classics which will be distributed to clients on their stall at a major kitchens exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham next month.

Olivia, who only started singing professionally in September 2009, said: “I can’t believe how fast it has all taken off.

“Last year I was desperately looking for a Saturday job and now I've already recorded my first album.”

The album features cover versions of classic songs like At Last made famous by Etta James, Moondance by Van Morrison and The Girl from Ipanema.

It was recorded late last year at Beaumont Street Studios in Huddersfield, which has now become a victim of the recession.

Olivia added: “If I had found a Saturday job I don’t think I would have taken the singing seriously.

“But now the sky’s the limit.”

Olivia specialises in swing, jazz blues and her favourite singer is Etta James. She has been singing since she was eight.

She sang with the Rastrick High School Choir and also sings with the Huddersfield Young Singers Choir.

In 2008 both choirs entered the Mrs Sunderland singing competition at Huddersfield Town Hall.

The big break came last September when local band, JB Goode, gave her a slot in the interval of one of their gigs.

Stefanie Carter, vocalist with the band, said: “She only sang four songs and the audience were just blown away by her.”

Olivia is also hard at work with her studies.

She has to combine singing with A-levels at Greenhead College for the next two years.
