A JUDGE is yet to deliver his verdict in the battle over a prime Brighouse site.

Two sides are fighting for the right to develop the disused Sugden's flour mill site, whose silos dominate the town centre.

At the end of a High Court hearing in London yesterday, Mr Justice Ouseley said he was reserving his judgement to a date to be fixed.

Site owner Younger Homes wants to build canalside housing.

Its bosses went to court in a bid to quash permission for retail units.

A defeat for the company would open the way for a compulsory purchase order by Calderdale Council.

The council plans include retail premises, 350 parking spaces and a swimming pool.

Also backing the project are Commercial Development Projects, Associated British Foods and British Waterways.
