THE trial of a man accused of raping a woman with learning difficulties in Huddersfield has been delayed.
The trial was due to take place next week but has been put back after a pre-trial hearing was adjourned yesterday.
Michael Coonan, 48, of Quarmby Road, Quarmby, had been due to stand trial on January 10, but his plea and case management hearing was adjourned for further inquiries yesterday.
Coonan, who himself suffers from learning difficulties, was remanded back into custody following the hearing at Bradford Crown Court and a new date for his plea and case management hearing was fixed for March 3.
Coonan is alleged to have raped the woman at his home last year.
