DRIVERS have been warned of roadworks close to the centre of Milnsbridge for the next three weeks.

Yorkshire Water will today begin emergency work at the junction of Morley Lane and Colne Vale Road to repair a collapsed section of sewer.

The work is expected to take no more than three weeks.

The road will remain open but traffic will be governed by three-way traffic lights.

The Victorian sewer was found to have collapsed following an investigation this week by the company.

There is no risk of sewer flooding, but the problem is being repaired to ensure that the sewer is able to operate effectively.

Dani Munton, from Yorkshire Water’s community engagement team, said: “Getting this section of sewer repaired and back to good health is our absolutely priority and we want to reassure local residents and road

users that we'll be doing everything we can to carry out the repair as

quickly as possible in order to minimise any road disruption”.

Contractors will not need access to anyone's property during the work and residents are being urged to be on their guard against bogus callers.
