A DENTIST who lives in Kirklees has been jailed for falsely claiming tens of thousands of pounds.

Daljit Singh Jabbal, 56, of Quaker Lane, Hightown, Liversedge, was imprisoned for two years at Bradford Crown Court after admitting false accounting at Bradford Crown Court.

The court heard he had claimed £85,000 from the NHS and had been submitting false claims, sometimes for non-existent patients.

He later confessed to what he had been doing and has now repaid all the money to Bradford and Airedale Primary Care Trust where he worked.

Jabbal, who had a dental surgery in Bradford, has also de-registered himself as a dentist.

His barrister, Abdullah Al-Yunusi, said his client had been a pillar of the community until the offences came to light.

He was on anti-depressants and was having health and family problems at the time of the offences and also felt under pressure to meet his contract targets.
