HOSPITAL bosses will go to court today to try and evict travellers from a car park.

The travellers have set up camp at Dewsbury and District Hospital.

Several horses and around eight vehicles arrived on the staff car park at the site in Halifax Road last week.

It meant that staff who work at the hospital had to use visitor and patient car parks, taking up a number of spaces.

Kirklees Council said the travellers had moved from the former Topps Tiles premises at Railway Street, Dewsbury, and that the hospital would be applying to the court.

A spokesperson for The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “We are working with all those concerned with this matter to resolve it as quickly as possible.”

Travellers have been moving around sites in Dewsbury for several weeks over the summer.

A small group of travellers has also been at Millbridge Park in Liversedge.

Court proceedings have been started and there will be a hearing in Dewsbury later today.
