A SCHOOL in Dewsbury is to leave Kirklees Council control and become an independent charitable trust.
The Community Science College @ Thornhill - formerly Thornhill High School – is changing its name again.
From June 1, the school will be known as Thornhill Community Academy Trust.
Head teacher Mr Jonny Mitchell said despite the move to independence he wanted the change to be “seamless” for students’ education.
The change could mean an earlier finish to the school day, a shorter lunchtime and more out-of-hours clubs and activities.
The proposed finish time from September would be 2.45pm, 20 minutes earlier than now.
The lunch break would be reduced from 50 minutes to 30 minutes.
A new uniform will be introduced from September 2013.
