HOSPITAL staff in Kirklees are on strike.
NHS clerical and administration staff at three hospitals in West Yorkshire – including Dewsbury District Hospital – have begun a five-day strike over proposed jobs losses and pay cuts.
The action began yesterday morning. The union Unison said 74 clerical staff had received redundancy notices.
Members working at the Dewsbury hospital, Pinderfields in Wakefield and Pontefract General Infirmary face pay cuts of up to £2,800 a year, the union claimed.
Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust said it needed to make savings of £24m by April.
In November, Unison members at the three hospitals held four days of industrial action against the proposals.
The trust said it had made three revised offers to staff in an effort to end the dispute.
