A MAN has appeared in court accused of ramming a police vehicle with a stolen car.
Gary Carter, 27, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
He faces charges of aggravated vehicle taking, drink-driving, driving whilst disqualified and using a vehicle without insurance.
Carter, of Cemetery Road in Dewsbury, denies all of the allegations which date from December 22.
Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said that Carter took the keys to his girlfriend’s car after drinking.
The vehicle was allegedly then spotted in Leeds being driven by Carter.
As police tried to stop the car he is alleged to have driven into the vehicle, causing it substantial damage.
Magistrates adjourned Carter’s case until January 10.
He was remanded in custody until that date.
