A Dewsbury man breached his court order when he moved to Scotland without telling probation staff.

Peter Porter, 31, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court in custody.

He was released from a 10-week custodial sentence on January 27.

Following this he was subject to a period of post-sentence supervision.

However he failed to keep in touch with the probation office and live at his approved address in Lacey Street.

Magistrates heard that Porter, who pleaded guilty to the breach, is now living in the Scottish Borders.

Mike Sisson-Pell, mitigating, said: “He has tried to move on and better himself, he now has a stable address and full time employment for the first time in years.

“But it’s his obligation to inform the probation service because they need to make checks to ensure that the address is suitable.”

Magistrates took no action against the breach but he must still pay £80 costs.
