THREE teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of robbery and possessing a firearm after a major police operation yesterday morning.

Parts of the Healey area of Batley were sealed off and the West Yorkshire Police helicopter launched into action at about 6.45am.

It came after three teenagers, wearing hooded tops and dark glasses, were seen acting suspiciously outside a newsagents in Healey Lane at its junction with Halifax Road and Batley Road.

Boys aged 13, 14 and 15 were arrested on suspicion of having a gun and of robbing a newsagents at Staincliffe Road in Dewsbury and a person on The Spen Valley Greenway at Dewsbury Moor.
