A COUPLE have been making sweet music together for 60 years.

Sylvia and Donald Hampson, from Linthwaite – who are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary – even met through their love of music.

Mr Hampson, 84, – who founded the Ambassadors Dance Orchestra – met Sylvia at a jamboree at Cambridge Road baths during the 1940s.

Mrs Hampson, who plays trumpet, later founded the U3A dance band and is a member of Honley Dance Orchestra.

And Mr Hampson, who plays the drums, is a member of Scapegoat Hill Silver Prize Brass Band.

Mr Hampson – who used to work for White and Lockwood Toyota dealers at Bradford Road, Fartown – said he and his wife are celebrating their anniversary with a huge party at The Golcar Lily.

The couple have two daughters and two grandchildren.
