POLICE in Calderdale have appealed for witnesses after a pub brawl.

Two men from Hampshire, who were in Brighouse to see relatives, are thought to have been targeted by local youths.

The fracas started inside The George pub at Commercial Street shortly before 11pm on Friday night and then carried on outside.

Both men suffered broken wrists in the incident.

Det Sgt Bill Hargreaves, of Calderdale CID, said: “These two men were assaulted by a group of local youths during this disturbance.

“There doesn't seem to be a reason for the attack.

“There were a lot of people in the pub not involved in this disturbance and we would ask any of them who may have information to come forward.”

No-one has been arrested so far, but detectives are treating it as a wounding.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has any information is asked to contact Calderdale detectives on 01422 337085.
