ORGANISERS of a charity dinner hope to have raised £5,000 for the tsunami disaster appeal.
Denby Dale parish councillor Alicia Dellapuppa got together with a group of volunteers to stage the event at La Dolce Vita restaurant in Scissett.
An auction of donated goods, including an Ashley Jackson print and a house in France for a week, raised £1,712.
A raffle and cash gifts helped swell the total.
Clr Dellapuppa said: "We were hoping to make between £3,000 and £3,500, but our expectations have exceeded that and the final figure could be around £5,000.
"This was all possible from hard work from all who helped with the event and the generosity of many people and businesses."
The evening was attended by Yorkshire TV Calendar newsreader Michelle Gee who made an after-dinner speech.
