A mum-of-two who went from kitchen nightmare to culinary queen has missed out on the ‘coveted’ title Disaster Chef 2014.
Katy Docherty, 35, of Netherton, reached the final of Kenwood’s Disaster Chef contest and went to London on Saturday for the live final.
Katy competed against 14 other hapless chefs in a six-week cookery crash course culminating in the final in front of judges including TV star Hermione Norris, best known for Cold Feet and Spooks.
Previously banned from her own kitchen by husband Mark, Katy reckons she’s improved enough to be trusted with meals for Cerys, eight, and five-year-old Oliver.
“In the final we had to cook a pasta dish and a chocolate fondant and I managed to complete them with no mishaps,” she said.
“I’m not too disappointed as I’ve learned how to cook at last.”
Katy was also delighted that cakes she baked for her children’s schools, Netherton Infants and South Crosland Juniors, both sold!
