HUDDERSFIELD firefighters have given £500 to help a badly hurt rugby player.

Danny Scott suffered serious spinal injuries while playing for Moldgreen Amateur Rugby League Club in January.

The club set up a fund to help provide equipment he will now need at home in Marsh. He was allowed home from hospital two weeks ago.

Firefighter Warren Ellison said: "We held a function at the station and raised £300 and then Visage and Ethos nightclub helped out by chipping in the extra £200."

The event was a fancy dress 70s and 80s disco organised by Firefighter Paul Chadwick and station cook Pauline Brown (second left).

They are pictured presenting the cheque to Daniel's brother Lee and his wife Emily.

Mr Scott said: "Danny was discharged two weeks ago, so the money will go straight towards any equipment which can help him at home."
