A FUNDRAISING junior disco is being held to help send a girl on the trip of a lifetime.

Epilepsy sufferer Sarah Buckle, 15, was one of 24 UK youngsters chosen to go on a month-long trip to New Zealand by the Journey Of a Lifetime Trust (Jolt).

The London-based charity offers trips to children who are disabled, disadvantaged or who have been abused and neglected.

Sarah, of Crosland Moor, was nominated by Dr Alex Hamilton, of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, who treats her for epilepsy.

She had the disease as a toddler and it then disappeared - but four years ago it returned.

Despite her illness, Sarah acts as a carer for her mother, Erica, who suffers from mental health problems.

Mrs Buckle said: "She really deserves to go."

To get to New Zealand Sarah needs to raise £600 for Jolt. All funds from the disco will go towards this.

The event will be at the Irish Centre in Fitz- william Street, Huddersfield, on Sunday next week. It starts at 8pm and admission is £2.

Sarah also plans a sponsored silence and a talent show at Moor End Technology College, where she is a pupil.

Tickets for the disco are available on the door or from Mrs Buckle on 0798 4068541.
