Staff and shoppers at Huddersfield’s Asda store were left bemused as two pranksters stripped down to their pants and launched an impromptu ‘rave’.

Lee Marshall, also known as DiscoBoy, hauled a sound system into the check-out area and pumped up the volume.

He then introduced Speedo – wearing Speedo swimming trunks and a trilby – and said: “We’ve got a special guest here in the building. Here he is. Give it up. Make some noise for Speedo Shy.”

But there was nothing shy about Speedo nor DiscoBoy, wearing nothing but purple shorts and a furry trapper hat, as the wacky duo jumped onto one of the check-outs and strutted their stuff.

Mike in hand, DiscoBoy greeted shoppers, saying to one: “How do you do?”

He then urged others to join in, shouting: “Come on, make some noise!”

Staff and shoppers pulled out mobile phones to record the fun, hardly able to believe their eyes.

One woman assistant shrugged her shoulders and gave a wry smile.

Monday night’s rave at the Brackenhall store was over almost as quickly as it began as a burly security man demanded the plug be pulled.

The duo are believed to have left more quietly than they arrived.

DiscoBoy is a renowned prankster. He has also hit Tesco in Whitstable and while shoppers loved it no member of staff batted an eyelid. There was a similar show in Morrison’s at Herne Bay and no one knows where he will strike next.

DiscoBoy, now proving an internet sensation with his videos on YouTube, said: “Some people play computer games, I’d rather do this stuff. Each to their own.”

Speedo Shy, meanwhile, is lapping up his Huddersfield fame and said: “It’s good to be back in the game, how can I get nervous? The security loved it.”

An Asda spokesman saw the funny side but said: “As much as we appreciate a good joke, the unexpected items in the bagging area, actually broke the bagging area.

“We’d ask our customers to use our checkouts to pay for their shopping and not to showcase their ‘dance moves.’”
