FIREFIGHTERS were called to deal with a fuel spillage after a disgruntled DIY store customer poured it over a car park.

It is understood the man went to Homebase on the Great Northern Retail Park on Leeds Road in Huddersfield to take a lawnmower back at 4pm yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters say that when staff said he could not take the mower inside if it still had petrol in it, he tipped it out across the car park.

Huddersfield firefighters were called to deal with the spillage and shovelled soil over it to soak it up.

While they were doing that the man carried on his complaint with store staff.
