TO resurface or not?

That's the dilemma over Holly Bank Road in Lindley.

Local Tory councillor Tony Brice is backing calls in favour of a new surface.

But some residents want nothing done, as they fear it will lead to speeding.

They have asked for the street's cobbles to be left exposed, which Clr Brice said was unacceptable in his view.

Now he wants more comments from residents to help Kirklees Council make its mind up.

Clr Brice claimed the road was being damaged by construction traffic going to and from a new housing development.

He said: "I want the council's highways department to resurface the road and charge the construction company.

"While I have to take into account the views of the residents, we cannot leave the road in its current state – something has to be done."

He asked for anyone with specific comments to contact him on 01484 512521 or 07976 518915.
