MOTORISTS have been warned of disruption when a Huddersfield road bridge is strengthened.

The £640,000 scheme is due to begin in June on Besancon bridge, which carries Fitzwilliam Street over the ring road.

The slip road at the bridge will be shut during the work.

Also, two overnight closures are expected on the ring road. Kirklees Council said the project would tie in with the summer holidays, when traffic was lighter.

Work is also expected to start in June on £600,000 strengthening of a bridge taking Lindley Moor Road over Halifax Road at Ainley Top, at the back of the Cedar Court Hotel.
