RETIRED GP William Sharman, of Fenay Bridge, is the new president of Kirkburton District Probus Club.

He succeeds outgoing president Brian Carter.

The doctor is a former president of Huddersfield Pennine Rotary Club, vice chairman of Kirklees Family Practitioner Committee and a past chairman of the Huddersfield branch of the British Medical Association.

He enjoys going to the theatre and walking.
