A HAUL of drugs has been found by a dog walker.

James Perkins stumbled across a large pile of cannabis plants while walking his dog off Haughs Road, Quarmby.

Police called to the scene removed the plants, which had been cut into small pieces, and a large plastic dustbin.

The plants had been dumped in woodland just yards from the road.

Mr Perkins said: “The area where I found the drugs is very popular with dog walkers.

“When I found them I had just followed another dog walker into the woods who strolled past the bin unaware of its contents, as I almost did.

“It is a route popular with children from Salendine Nook High School. They walk along Longwood Edge and then cut down through the wood on their way home.

“The bin, with the plants spilled out of it, was dumped less than 10 yards from the road.”
