DOZENS of street lights are shining through the day on two Huddersfield streets.

Around 40 lights on Dale Street and Wood Street in Longwood have been on 24 hours a day for the past 10 weeks.

Kevin Burns, 69, who lives on Wood Street, wants the problem to be solved.

He said: “I could understand it if the lights had been on for a week or two, but 10 weeks is ridiculous.”

A Kirklees Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the fault which is down to an electricity supply issue.

“The fault is causing the supply to by-pass the switch for the lights.

“We will be putting individual sensors on the lamps over the course of the next few weeks to solve the problem.”
