AN injured walker was rescued in dramatic fashion on the Pennine moors.

The man had fallen down a 200-foot ravine close to the Pennine Way and prompted a massive rescue effort led by members of Woodhead mountain rescue.

The team eventually called in the RAF and the injured man was winched to safety by a Sea King helicopter. He was treated in hospital for leg injuries. His colleague, who was cold but uninjured, was helped off the moors by Woodhead volunteers.
