A HOLMFIRTH teenager is trying to raise cash to secure her place on a dream conservation trip.

Jessica Campbell, 17, has already raised £3,000 towards the cost of a six-week stay on the Pacific islands of Fiji, on a mission to protect their reefs.

The Greenhead College student now needs just £1,000 to book her place on the July expedition.

Jessica, who hopes to be a marine biologist, will be working with the Coral Cay Conservation group to collect evidence on threats to reefs in the 120-island country.

She said: "I have done a sponsored 10-mile swim, the Rotary Club have given some money and I have a part-time job from which I have been saving the money.

"I'm also planning a car boot sale to try and get the final £1,000."

Jessica, who has been offered a place at Oxford University, said she hopes to raise the cash in time.

She added: "We will help protect the reefs and educate people about sustainable living.

"It would be a great learning experience and be nice to help the people out there."
