NINE Kirkwood Hospice shops are supporting the World Cup with window displays.

Susan Marsden, retail co-ordinator for the hospice, said: "Each of our shops has been given a brief to dress a window in celebration of the event and there will be a prize for the best dressed window."

In addition to the usual donated items, the shops are stocking a range of World Cup memorabilia such as car flags and wrist bands.

The hospice in Dalton cares for local people who have life-threatening illnesses, for example cancer or severe lung disease, and relies on public donations and voluntary sources.

It cares for people throughout the Kirklees area.
