DOZENS of people are taking part in a charity walk around the Holme Valley in honour of a baby with a double brain condition.
Friends of Dave and Kirsty Brook, of Palm Street in Newsome, are walking from the White Hart pub on Huddersfield Road in New Mill, through Brockholes, Honley and Holmfirth today.
They will return to New Mill for a fundraising bash at the Duke of Leeds pub on Sheffield Road.
The event has been dubbed ‘Archie’s Gift,’ after Dave and Kirsty’s 18-month-old son, Archie. He has a rare double brain condition, which has severely stunted his development.
The group are raising money for the Ellerslie Child Development Centre in Greenhead Road, Huddersfield, which works with children with special needs.
Three bands will be playing at the Duke of Leeds this afternoon. There will also be a barbecue, raffle, bouncy castle and tombola. The event starts at 4.30pm.
