A CARER who took methadone died from the effects of alcohol.
Steven Allen moved to Huddersfield from London to care for his parents at their Kirkheaton home.
After they died, Mr Allen, a 56-year-old father-of-three, remained at the bungalow on Meadow Park.
Until 15 months before his death he was taking heroin and later was prescribed methadone for his addiction.
Mr Allen’s health got worse and he was advised to avoid alcohol as he had been drinking up to a bottle of vodka a day. He died on March 24.
At a Huddersfield inquest coroner Roger Whittaker heard he died of alcohol-related heart disease. He recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
