TWO elderly neighbours have had the gates stolen from their driveway.

Kenneth Briggs, 84, and Nancy Lock, of Spring Grove, Kirkburton, share a driveway which had wrought iron gates.

Between 5.30pm and 7pm last Thursday the gates were sawn from their hinges and taken away.

The two neighbours immediately told the police.

Mr Briggs said that because the houses were near the Spring Grove Tavern, people presumed the gates had been removed to allow access to the rear of the pub.

But he said this was wrong.

He said: "We'd like to make it clear that the pub has nothing to do with it and they are distressed that it has occurred."
