AN elderly man is in hospital after his car collided with a wagon at Thornton Lodge.

The 77-year-old, from Meltham, suffered a fractured breastbone sternum in the collision just after 10am yesterday.

He is recovering in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

He was driving his Skoda Fabia across Manchester Road, heading from Blackmoorfoot Road towards Birkhouse Lane.

The car collided with the wagon on Manchester Road. Its driver, from Wiltshire, was uninjured.
