Police are investigating a smash on the M62 which shut the eastbound carriageway, leading to long delays.
The Highways Agency said a lorry and a tipper truck were in collision between junctions 21 (Milnrow) and 22 (Rishworth Moor) at 12.55pm today.
The opposite carriageway was closed while the air ambulance landed at the scene.
A driver from one of the vehicles was airlifted to hospital and the westbound carriageway was re-opened.
It is understood eastbound lanes one and two of four remain shut while police investigations get underway. Long delays are expected.
